Therefore it’s tough to decide when the cigarette packet was made. But the tobacco company labels the cigarettes packages with the internal systems, called Julian codes. These code numbers inform you of the location, production date, and the type of tobacco used to make them. By seeing this Julian code, you can discover the production time of the cigarette. Cigarettes do not expire, but they perform below when it is old. An old and spoiled cigarette may lose the moisture in its tobacco. It tastes different and can be difficult to enjoy. This points to buyers understanding that the product is safe to use before it expires. Also, in my experience, I have never seen the expiration period published on cigarettes. So, I can say cigarettes do not expire. 9 Reply Share Share Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on LinkedIn Share on WhatsApp Roshan22 Nepal 126 Questions 5 Answers 1 Best Answer 98 Points View Profile Roshan22 2021-07-26T09:24:19+00:00Added an answer on July 26, 2021 at 9:24 am Yes, cigarettes do expires in my personal experience. Oxygen exposure and time can harm its taste and freshness. Just because cigarette companies do not add an expiry period on the packet doesn’t indicate it will not expire or damage. You can watch the above video posted by JohnBaken. In the video, the guy is experimenting 80 years old cigarettes and telling the taste is different. 6 Reply Share Share Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on LinkedIn Share on WhatsApp R. I felt strange tastes and smell while smoking old cigarettes many times. That’s because it was expired but it does not damage like bread or fruits. It also goes stale if you keep the packet open for a long time. 3 Reply Share Share Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on LinkedIn Share on WhatsApp M. Cigarettes are not marked with an expiry date doesn’t mean they do not expire. You can check the staleness of any cigarettes by testing them. If its taste is soft with unusual flavors, it is considered spoiled. Also, you can rub with two fingers to see if tobacco easily comes out or not. Also, you can feel the softness of tobacco, and if it is too soft and soggy, it might be stale. Although cigarette packets have a production date and a “Best Before” tag, they do not necessarily expire. 4 Reply Share Share Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on LinkedIn Share on WhatsApp Matthias Busch Germany 0 Questions 1 Answer 1 Best Answer 119 Points View Profile Best Answer Matthias Busch 2021-08-06T04:25:52+00:00Added an answer on August 6, 2021 at 4:25 am Cigarettes do not expire like other foods and beverage products, but they can become stale. Take a cigarette and rub your fingers together to see if tobacco is getting out. This is a symptom of staleness. Cigarettes are expected to have stale if the smell is softer. It should always taste fresh and be nice. Sources confirmed that high-quality cigarettes are delivered after particular processing to stop fungal growth. However, analysis has shown that the product goes stale after some time. But the question is “how long cigarettes stay good for”. About one and a half to two years old cigarettes seem like pretty good to me but that’s for a pack of cigarettes that is packaged. I’ve smoked a pack of six-month-old cigarettes before that was open for about six months. I just found it under my bed one day and tried it and they were absolutely horrible and dry. I fully believe cigarettes do eventually, go bad but they don’t go bad like food does. Cigarettes don’t really go bad that even if you forget for about six months while the taste might be gone. You can still get a buzz from it with the American spirit yellows that I gave a nice example earlier for my six month old cigarette pack those didn’t taste very good they were very brittle. 4 Reply Share Share Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on LinkedIn Share on WhatsApp Rohit Misra India 10 Questions 6 Answers 0 Best Answers 133 Points View Profile Rohit Misra 2021-08-26T04:58:52+00:00Added an answer on August 26, 2021 at 4:58 am Few days before one of my friends asked me the same question do cigarettes expire? But it could be damaged after few months if it’s the open packet. And we can determine it by its taste and softness. 3 Reply Share Share Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on LinkedIn Share on WhatsApp MaxL United Kingdom (UK) 43 Questions 7 Answers 2 Best Answers 53 Points View Profile MaxL 2021-08-29T11:02:26+00:00Added an answer on August 29, 2021 at 11:02 am Well, I have some different experiences regarding the expiration date of the cigarette pack. I have read all the answers here saying that the tobacco company does not write the expiry or manufacture date on the pack. I checked the cigarette pack that I have. In the American product, I did not see the manufactured date on the packet. But I have another cigarette pack that I had bought in Nepal that has a manufactured date. I had traveled to Nepal last month, where I bought a pack of cigarettes called “Surya”. It has written the manufactured date in small text. I have attached its photo here, please check it out. 3 Reply Share Share Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on LinkedIn Share on WhatsApp Leave an answerCancel replyYou must login to add an answer.
